[-] August 3rd, 2008: Pray for Good Weather!

Good day to all members:

This hasn't been our best year for pulling due to weather.  Let's hope the last two pulls go off without a hitch.  It has been brought to my attention that some of the members would like to make-up the classes that did not pull on the June 22nd, 2008 date.  We have a total 15 classes and only 8 classes were complete for points.  It takes 6-8 hours to get in a full day of 15 classes.  To try and complete the classes from June would require more time than we have in a day.  Having our pull on Sunday pushes the envelope for our members to return home safely to go off to work Monday morning.  See you August 10th, 2008 (Sunday).

On a sad note, Eric Fuetter's father past away July 31st, 2008.  Service information follows:

Kenneth A. Fuetter

[-] July 12th, 2008: July 13th Pull Canceled!

The Medina County Fairboard has decided to ask the MTTPA to cancel the July 13th Pull due to today's rain and the rain anticipated for tomorrow.  The Medina County Fair is in 2 weeks and they feel that the grounds will not support the traffic from our pull.

We look forward to seeing all of you again at the August 10th Pull.

Also, we are looking for members to sign-up to help for the Friday August 1st Fair Tractor Pull.  Additionally, we need members to compete in the Sunday August 3rd OSTPA Pull.  Please contact us by July 17th via email, leaving both your name and number, or via telephone at (330) 225-0745 if you are interested in either event.

Each day of sign-up, you'll receive FREE ADMISSION for the event.  This list will be turned over to the Fair Board to receive your FREE admission at the entrance.

[-] June 30th, 2008: Letter from the MTTPA Officers

The season got off to a good start: Good competition—a little dust and diesel fuel in the air.  Unfortunately, Mother Nature didn't know that we were having a truck & tractor pull that day and the event was shortened by rain.  The following classes did not have a chance to compete:

  1.  9,000 Farm Stock
  2.  8,000 Mod Street 4WD (Diesel)
  3.  6,500 Pro Street 4WD (Gas)
  4. 10,500 Hot Farm Tractor
  5. 15,000 Farm Stock
  6.  8,000 "Run What You Brung"
  7. 16,500 Farm Stock

These classes will start their season points at the July 13th, 2008 pull.  Their season will be based on three pulls rather than four.

It was determined that the 10,500# Hot Farm class was too light in weight so it has been changed to 11,000# to widen the field.  It will remain at 11,000# for the remainder of the season.  Unfortunately, Mother Nature did not allow this class to pull even with the changes that were made.

We continue to need pullers to sign up and assist at the Farm Pull and OSTPA Pull at the Fairgrounds.  We need to have 15 to assist.  The list is growing but we continue to need to fill the field.  This does allow us free use of the Grounds for our pulls.  If you sign up, you will have free admission to the Fair that day as well as pit access.  Sign up at the next pull or email the club with your name and phone number.

As always, assistance to flag, run the roller or scraper, etc. for a time is needed...  Please step up during the pulls.  The Club needs you to help.  If everybody helped a little no one would need to be out there all day.

Hopefully, Mother Nature will smile on us in July.  See you then!

[-] May 20th, 2008: Letter from the MTTPA Officers

Mother Nature took away the Test and Tune: So now we move closer to the first pull of the season.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO PASS ALONG!!!

Please mail in your membership forms early.  The stage is always the busiest at the first pull—trying to take membership forms and entry forms for the day at the same time.  To keep things moving on the stage, please mail in membership forms and fee payments now.  On the day of the pull come up on the stage early to keep us on schedule and get a good place in the pulling order.  Membership forms are available on the website.

We use the Medina County Fairgrounds for free only if we meet two conditions:

  1. 10 volunteers for the Medina County Fair pull on Friday August 1st
Flaggers, runners, chain to tractors, roller driver, scraper driver, etc. (Same operation we use in our club.)
  2. 15 volunteers with a tractor on the OSPTA pull on Sunday August 3rd
Tractor with operator as pull back tractors.

Names and phone numbers need to be to the Fair Board the week of our July Pull.  Sign up sheets will be posted at the June and July pulls.  To sign up before that mail, call (330) 225-0745, or email Dave Shaw with your name, phone number, and which pull you will work.  If your name is not on a list you will not get free admission the day of the pull.  Once the list is put together it will be passed to the Fair Board.  This will get you...

FREE ADMISSION TO THE FAIR, THE PULL, AND A PIT PASS FOR THE DAY YOU WILL BE WORKING!

If we do not meet this agreement, we will be charged for the use of the fairgrounds.  All fees would need to be paid for the whole year prior to any pulls being scheduled.  This will limit our ability to pay out classes in the future and may even threaten the future of the club.

Please step up now and keep us at the fairgrounds for free.  The Fair Board is willing to offer this to us in return for our work at their events—Let's show them our appreciation!

Thanks from the officers of the MTTPA
Dave, Rachel, Michelle, and Chris
(Rick thanks you too)

[-] May 16th, 2008: Test & Tune Canceled!

The MTTPA officers have decided to cancel the Test & Tune scheduled for this Sunday May 18th, 2008 due to the weather conditions beyond our control.  The Test & Tune date WILL NOT be rescheduled.  Pray for dry weather and we will see all of you June 22nd, 2008.

Watch the website for more news as it develops.

Thank you - MTTPA

[-] April 7th, 2008: New Website!

  • Welcome to our new website!
    • It is still under development, so expect some changes during the upcoming weeks.
    • We have a new domain name: mttpa.org.  It points to the exact same content as medinacountytractorpullers.org but provides a shorter, easier to type (and perhaps to remember), alternative for our visitors.

[-] March 24th, 2008: All Members Meeting

This letter includes information from the All Members meeting of March 2nd, 2008 as well as follow up information from the Board meeting which followed.

  • We send our condolences to Jim Rice on the passing of his wife on January 4th, 2008.
  • Keith Sudimak was seriously injured in a farming accident at the end of the month.  Happy to say at the time of this letter, Keith has returned home to recover further.
  • Dates for this year's pulls: Test and Tune on May 18th.  Registration will be from 10:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M.  June 22nd is with the Medina County Antique Power Association, July 13th, August 10th and September 28th.
  • There will be concessions at all pulls and the Test and Tune.
  • 10:00 A.M. start with all pulls on Sunday.
  • Bryan Huff is not running for president for the season.  We thank Bryan for his two years of service.  No one stepped up.  Dave Shaw stepped up to the President and leaving the Vice President position vacant.  No on came forward at the time, but Rachel Workinger stepped up after and has accepted the position.  We thank Rachel!!!
  • Michelle Filous, our current treasurer, spoke up and noted her need for someone to "learn" what her job is all about.  After more than six years, she would like a break after this year.  Come up to the stage and spend some time to see what is expected.
  • Rick Matus called for two openings of trustee to be filled.  Five members have contacted Rick and he will soon make the decision.  Thanks to you all.
  • Help wanted!!! By July 15th the Medina County Fair Board is asking us to sign up as tow/pullback tractors at the fair, Sunday August 3rd, for the Ostpa Pull.  They also need names to help at the Farm Pull on August 1st.  Remember that our club is able to use the fairgrounds for our pulls for free in return for this service to them.  A sign up sheet for each event will be on the announcer's stand at the Test and Tune and the June 22nd pull.  If you sign up, you will get free admission to the pull and to the fair for that day.  If not on the list, you will need to pay.
  • Help us!!! If everyone does a little, no one does a lot.  We need others to help at the scales, drawbar, roller tractor, flagger, and stage assistance.  The gate also needs someone to work.  We bring in 2-300+ each pull which is profit for the club.  It also is when liability forms are signed.  Though the gate should be manned at 7:00 A.M., it can be done in shifts and whoever is there is able to leave early.
  • The dyno will be used.
  • Hook fee and membership fees are unchanged.

  • Our expenses, especially insurance, have gone up significantly so our sponsorships again are needed.  Please do what it takes to get at least one.  If everyone did this, with over 170 members, we could give back to the pullers.
  • Joe Makilacki questioned the hitch height of the 6200# 2WD Economod tractor class.  22" was agreed on.
  • The web site should be running again soon.  Our webmaster has experienced technical problems.
  • Anyone paid can hook.  Payout remains with a minimum of five in a class.
  • Pull order will be set by the board before the first pull.
  • No alcohol is allowed on the fair grounds.
  • No open toe shoes.  All should be in closed toes and long pants.
  • Weights must all be securely fastened.  Bungee straps are not an acceptable way to secure weight.

  • The rest of the membership meeting and the board meeting focused on class change.
  • Bob Goudy, Bob's wife, and Tom Jacobucci Sr. spoke up and offered to sponsor individual classes for the season and year end prizes.  This offer was unanimously accepted.
  • Further discussion at the meeting, the stepping up of sponsors followed by a board discussion brings the revised classes for 2008.
  • $100.00 Guaranteed Purse Classes:
    • Farm Stock
